E-bike tours in Lanzarote: €119 to €172, and what the age and fitness limits really say

Updated October 7, 2026 · 7 min read

The short answer: for most people the e-bike tour through the volcano craters and vineyards is the one to book – €124, 4 hours, 4.9 out of 5 from 152 reviews, a group of six at most, and a full-suspension e-bike. The eBike tour in the Timanfaya volcano country is €119 and shorter at 3.5 hours, but has only 12 reviews. The north-to-south tour is €172 for 5.5 hours and a group of four, and the rest of this guide explains who it is for. If you cannot ride an ordinary bike, none of the three is for you.

What you ride through

The two shorter tours ride in the volcanic country around Timanfaya and through the vine pits of La Geria, the region where vines grow in hollows dug into black ash. The crater and vineyard tour describes premium electric mountain bikes with dual suspension and long-lasting batteries, a qualified guide, helmet, water, an energy bar and gel, insurance, and a photo and video package. The meeting point is a winery car park; the page asks you not to enter the winery but to wait by your car.

After booking you are asked to send your height, weight and experience level so that the right bike is ready. That is a small thing that tells you the operator expects people of very different sizes, and it is worth doing straight away.

The second tour is built around something the first only hints at: depending on the day’s route, you ride into a volcano or climb to see a crater, see the large volcanic bombs thrown out by another volcano, and cross lava fields. It starts from the Bodega Los Bermejos, with an aperitif listed among the stops.

If you want the full Timanfaya story at the park itself, that is a bus tour; our Timanfaya half-day guide covers it. The bike is the way to see the surroundings at your own pace.

Who is turned away

These are the limits on the three booking pages, and they are strict.

  • Crater and vineyard tour (€124): the page lists children under 13, pregnant women, people with diabetes and people over 70 as not suitable. Its own notes then say children under 13 are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian who can ensure their comfort. The two statements do not agree: ask the operator before you book for a child. It says it is suitable for all levels, but basic biking skills are required.
  • Timanfaya volcano tour (€119): not suitable for children under 13, people with mobility impairments or pregnant women; the notes add that a child under 13 can be booked if they have riding experience. No previous experience is needed, according to the page.
  • North to south (€172): not suitable for children under 14, pregnant women, people with mobility impairments, people who cannot ride a bike, people over 75 and people with a low level of fitness. It recommends a minimum of experience on a standard bicycle.

An e-bike assists your pedalling; it does not remove the need to balance, brake and ride on loose volcanic ground. If you have a medical condition, ask your doctor before booking.

Pickup costs extra – and the three pages price it differently

None of the three is a door-to-door excursion.

The crater and vineyard tour offers pickup for an extra fee paid to the guide, per person: €10 from Costa Teguise, €15 from Puerto del Carmen and €20 from Playa Blanca. The Timanfaya volcano tour offers it as a round-trip fee per booking, not per person: €10 from Arrecife, €20 from Puerto del Carmen and €30 from Playa Blanca, paid at the end of the tour. Do the arithmetic for your party size: for four people from Puerto del Carmen the first costs €60 and the second €20.

If you would rather drive yourself, you can price a hire car for the day.

The north-to-south tour: a different day

This is a linear route across the island, from the cliffs at Mirador del Río in the north to the beaches of Playa Blanca in the south, through Timanfaya country and La Geria. You start at Vulcan Bike Rental in Costa Teguise, a van takes you to the start of the route (the itinerary shows 20 minutes), you ride for about five hours with stops, and a van brings you back (30 minutes). Groups are limited to four.

The description says the transfer between the rental shop and the ends of the route is extra, at €25 each way per booking, and not multiplied by the number of people. Its price figure there does not match the one on the listing, and the listing says pickup is included. Read the price box and the inclusions on the page for your date before you book. It has only two reviews, both five stars.

E-bike, walk or bus?

An e-bike tour at €119 or more is more than double the price of the guided volcano walks. If you mostly want to see the craters, a walk costs less, and our volcano hike guide covers terrain and shoes. If you want to see wine country as well, the La Geria wine tours and the e-bike tours overlap. The e-bike pays off when you want distance, a choice of pace and the feeling of riding through the lava rather than past it.

Our recommendation

For most people: the €124 crater and vineyard e-bike tour. It has 152 reviews at 4.9 out of 5, a small group and a clear list of inclusions, and the operator asks for your measurements in advance.

Book a date for the crater and vineyard e-bike tour

If you want to go inside a volcano and pay less: the €119 Timanfaya tour, with the caveat that it has few reviews. For the full crossing: the €172 north-to-south tour, for fit riders only.

Not for you if you cannot ride a bike confidently, are over the age limits above, or are looking for something for young children.

Durations, inclusions, group sizes, limits and pickup fees are as published on the GetYourGuide booking pages of the operators named. Ratings and review counts are from GetYourGuide. Subject to change.
