Timanfaya as a full-day trip from Lanzarote: which of the two eight-hour tours should you book?
Updated October 12, 2026 · 5 min read
The short answer: for most people, the Timanfaya and Jameos del Agua full-day tour — €87 per person, 8 hours, 4.5 out of 5 from 2,050 reviews. It is the only one of the two that also takes you to the green north of the island. Cheapest, and south only: the Timanfaya and Lago Verde tour at €69, 4.2 out of 5 from 872 reviews, which ends with a wine tasting in La Geria instead of a cave.

| Timanfaya Park and Jameos del Agua full-day tour | 8 hours | €87 | 4.5 from 2,050 reviews | El Golfo, Jameos del Agua, Valley of 1,000 Palms |

Same operator, two different days
Both booking pages name Low Cost Tours Europe as the provider, and both are guided coach tours with hotel pickup. Both prices include the entrance to Timanfaya National Park. What changes is the second half of the day: one tour drives north, the other stays in the south and ends among the vines.
The €87 tour: Timanfaya is one hour of eight
The booking page gives each stop a time. The guided tour inside Timanfaya takes 1 hour; El Golfo gets 15 minutes, the Islet of Hilario 15 minutes, a camel ride 30 minutes if you want it, a photo stop at Monte Corona 5 minutes, and Jameos del Agua 55 minutes, entrance included. The rest is coach: the page itself says the total is 7 to 8 hours depending on how far your hotel is from the route.
That makes it the better choice if Jameos del Agua is on your list anyway, because you do not pay for a second day out. The guide speaks German, English, Spanish, Italian and French, a wider range than the other tour. One reviewer’s warning is worth passing on: the group changes buses at Jameos del Agua for the return, and the guide should tell you which colour of sticker goes on which bus, so ask before you board.

The €69 tour: all south, with wine at the end
This one has a different rhythm: an hour on the coach, then Lago Verde for 15 minutes, 50 minutes in Timanfaya, an optional camel ride, a lunch stop of 55 minutes, and 30 minutes at a vineyard in La Geria with a tasting of one small glass included. The page says that if the park is closed, the Timanfaya Interpretation Centre is visited instead, and puts the real total at 5 to 7 hours — the 8 hours in the listing is the outer limit.
It is cheaper by €18 and shorter in practice, but it has fewer languages (German, English and Spanish) and a lower rating, and the summary of recent reviews says the lunch stop feels pricey and restrictive. One guest called the winery pleasant but of little weight in the day. Take it for the price and for La Geria, not for the wine.

What is not in either price
Both pages list the same two extras, paid on the day: a camel ride at about €12, in cash, and an optional lunch at about €18, which you can skip by bringing your own. Take both and either tour costs roughly €30 more per person than the headline price.
Who should not book these
- Anyone who wants a long time in the park. At 50 to 60 minutes it is a guided drive, not a walk; for more on foot, the Timanfaya half-day tour and the volcano hikes are better matches.
- Wheelchair users: both pages list the tours as not suitable, and electric and non-folding wheelchairs are not allowed. The terrain in Timanfaya is uneven and slippery in places, so closed shoes are recommended.
- Anyone who dislikes long coach days. A hire car lets you choose your own hours, but you give up the guide and the pickup.
Our recommendation
Book the €87 Timanfaya and Jameos del Agua tour if you only have one day for the island’s big sights. If the south is enough, the €69 Lago Verde tour is the cheaper, shorter day with the same park entrance. The nine-hour version that adds Cueva de los Verdes is compared in our Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes guide.
