Timanfaya evening tour with volcano dinner: what the €134 buys

Updated September 12, 2026 · 5 min read

Glazed restaurant overlooking volcanic hills beneath an orange evening sky

The Timanfaya evening tour with volcano dinner costs from €134 per person in our September catalogue: five hours, 304 reviews and 4.5 stars. Its closest practical comparison is the €59 daytime half-day tour. Both take you to the Fire Mountains; the evening version adds dinner and a visit arranged around the later light. The difference is €75 per person, or €150 for two adults.

That is a useful starting point because the volcano itself is not an upgrade. You are paying for a different way to spend the evening, with transport, a meal and a scheduled group experience. If you only want to see the craters, the cheaper daytime visit remains a serious alternative.

What is actually included

The operator’s booking page lists resort pickup, an official guide, park admission, the volcano route and geothermal demonstrations. Dinner comprises three courses, live music and wine, water or soft drinks during the meal. The tables are shared, with up to eight guests.

That last detail changes the character of the purchase. A couple celebrating an anniversary may enjoy meeting other travellers, but should not imagine a private table facing the sunset. Equally, drinks during dinner do not mean unlimited drinks throughout the excursion. Ask about anything you want outside the stated meal service before comparing the package with a restaurant bill.

Vegetarian and child-friendly meals are available on request, with at least 48 hours’ notice according to the listing. For allergies, obtain a specific response about your requirements rather than treating a vegetarian option as an answer to a different question.

Where the five hours go

The published itinerary shows coach travel of 75 minutes in each direction. Together that is two and a half hours. Those are itinerary estimates, not a promise that every hotel has the same journey, but they make the scale clear: the headline duration is not five hours inside the volcanic landscape.

Pickup serves several resort areas. Confirm your actual stop and the expected return to that stop; a pickup point in a hotel’s name is not necessarily collection from your own reception. Leave the return evening free rather than booking a second event immediately afterwards.

The daytime half-day tour also spends a substantial part of its duration on transport. For either option, the useful comparison is the experience at the destination, plus the convenience of the transfer from your accommodation. Dividing the price by the headline hours does not reveal either of those things.

Evening access does not mean private access

The operator markets entry after regular visitors have left. That describes a scheduled group visit; it does not mean you have the whole national park to yourselves or can wander away from the guide. Follow the instructions given for your specific departure.

There is another important distinction. CACT’s general visit includes the volcano bus route and heat demonstrations already. Those are not exclusive inventions of the dinner package. The added value lies in the evening arrangement and meal, and in any special stops expressly confirmed for your booking.

Do not buy solely for a photograph of a clear sunset. The timing can be planned, cloud cannot. Consider whether the same meal, shared company and volcanic scenery would still appeal on an overcast evening. If not, much of your willingness to pay rests on something the ticket cannot deliver reliably.

Is the dinner worth the difference?

At the catalogue prices, two adults pay €268 for the evening package against €118 for the daytime half-day tour. The €150 difference is not a published restaurant price: it also covers the different organisation of the visit. Calling it a €75 dinner would therefore be misleading.

For comparison, CACT currently lists ordinary adult admission at €30. Two adults visiting independently would start at €60 before transport and food. That does not recreate the organised evening, but it helps decide whether the package solves a real problem for you. If you already have a hire car and want only geology, its transport element may add little.

El Diablo’s geothermal cooking uses heat from the ground, as CACT explains. It is not a meal beside flowing lava. Readers interested in the landscape rather than the evening setting can compare the other Timanfaya tours or the official walking routes.

Who should choose something else

A child who normally eats early may find the waiting before dinner more difficult than the actual visit. Confirm the meal and return schedule before paying. Operators set different age limits, which appear on their booking pages; a child-friendly menu alone does not settle participation conditions.

The operator lists the excursion as unsuitable for wheelchair users. Anyone with access requirements should have the vehicle and the route checked directly before booking; do not infer accessibility from the fact that much of the evening is seated.

For those who dislike group meals or live music, these are not minor extras to ignore: they form part of what you are paying to attend. Read the cancellation conditions for your selected date and keep the pickup confirmation. The final decision is whether you want this whole evening, including the coach and shared table, rather than just its sunset photograph.
